A New Era Of Leadership And Growth

With The Wisely Group

A new chapter is unfolding at Wisely Group, a Mackay-based company with deep roots in professional and trade services, as it celebrates a significant leadership evolution.

Dan Wisely, son of founder Bob Wisely, has officially stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer, marking a proud milestone for the family-owned business that began in 1994 with just one man and a vision. With over 20 years of operational experience, Dan brings a fresh perspective shaped by his journey through nearly every facet of the company, from  construction of new HME Machinery in the paddock to leading teams, and now, the business as a whole.

Supporting him at the helm are two newly appointed General Managers: Reza Bein, who now leads Asset Management and Contracts, and David Sanderson, heading up Engineering Services, along with a strong Executive Leadership Team, across HR, HSEQ, Finance, and Commercial functions.

Together, the trio contribute decades of experience, a deep passion for their region, and a shared commitment to culture, performance, and client trust. As Wisely positions itself for continued growth, the focus remains on people, innovation, and delivering value with the utmost integrity.

CEO, Dan Wisely

From humble beginnings in Clermont to leading a 500-strong team in Mackay, Dan Wisely’s appointment as CEO marks a generational transition, and a continuation of values-based leadership.

Having spent two decades inside the business, Dan has worked across nearly every role. His experience brings not only operational depth but also a grounded perspective shaped by family, regional ties, and loyalty to the people who’ve built the company alongside him.

“It's about doing what we say we’re going to do, backing our people, and making decisions that align with our values…because we live here, too.”

Dan’s leadership style is focused on culture and sustainable growth. He is committed to succession planning, long-term partnerships, and creating opportunities for emerging leaders across the company.

“We’re not just growing a business; we’re growing opportunities for the next generation.

“To me, succession planning and sustainable Growth is everything.”

Away from the boardroom, Dan is a father of three boys and enjoys life outdoors, camping, fishing, and footy are staples of family time.

“I try to keep things pretty simple. Work, family, sport, fishing and camping…that’s my life.”

Advice to his younger self:

“Have resilience and just keep going. Sometimes you need to take the hard knocks and learn from them…but make sure you do actually learn. You don’t grow without struggle.”

Describe yourself in three words:

“Work-life balance, family, and laughter.”

Engineering Services General Manager – David Sanderson

With a steady hand and over two decades of experience in regional engineering, David Sanderson steps into the role of General Manager for Engineering Services. He now leads Wisely’s shutdowns, major maintenance, and project delivery across critical industry sectors.

“I’m someone who listens, processes, and includes others in decisions. I’m not the kind of leader who says, ‘This is how it is.’

“I like to bring people together.”

Growing up in the coalmining towns and pursuing studies in Townsville, David returned to Mackay to raise his family and build a meaningful career in the region. He brings calm leadership, operational precision, and a collaborative approach that has earned the trust of teams and clients alike.

“Achieving results is what keeps me passionate.

“I like the satisfaction of solving a challenge and delivering something meaningful for the business.”

Outside of work, David is a proud dad of two teenage daughters and a young son. Weekends are dedicated to sport and family time, chauffeuring the kids to soccer, netball, and footy while sneaking in a bit of fishing when possible.

Advice to his younger self:

“Don’t hesitate so much. If you’re passionate about something, just go for it.”

Describe yourself in three words:

“Family, good times, and committed.”

Asset Management & Contracts General Manager Reza Bein

Reza Bein brings a systems-led approach, regional pride, and a people-first mindset to his new role as General Manager of Asset Management & Contracts.

Born in Indonesia and raised in Mackay from the age of five, Reza studied engineering in Townsville before returning home to start his career during a mining boom. His first role was with GS Engineering, and over the years, he’s worked across multiple sites and major companies, including BHP.

“I’ve been in and out of the Bowen Basin at various sites and companies. I’ve learned a lot along the way – especially how to manage people effectively and tackle challenges head-on.”

Now officially appointed GM after several months in an acting capacity, Reza oversees asset performance, long-term contract partnerships, and infrastructure lifecycle strategies.

Outside of work, Reza is a devoted father of four, with children ranging from five months to 11 years old. Time off is often spent at the beach, playing backyard footy, or hitting a few golf balls.

“I like to play a bit of golf when I can. But mostly, it’s full-time dad mode on weekends, which I also love.”

Advice his to younger self:

“Be patient and learn from the people around you. Don’t just wait for answers to come to you – ask lots of questions.”

Describe yourself in three words:

“Cheerful, passionate and energetic.”

With Dan Wisely and his leadership team at the helm, the company is not just building infrastructure – it’s building opportunities for the next generation and strengthening the communities it calls home.
