Make a Difference Every Day with MADEC

For over 50 years, MADEC has been changing lives in the Mackay/Whitsundays region, earning a reputation as one of the most trusted community leaders in disability and youth support. Now, they’re opening their doors to like-minded people who are ready to help others grow, thrive, and discover their full potential.

The organisation is inviting new and experienced Disability Support Workers and Residential Youth Workers to join their growing team, with both roles offering a career where no two days are the same, but every day matters.

Empowering Daily Lives through Disability Support

The Disability Support Work team assists people with disabilities in navigating daily life, providing personal care, meal preparation, household support, and guidance in developing life skills that foster independence. The role also includes supporting mobility, well-being, assisting with therapies and medications, and collaborating with families and allied health professionals. Beyond practical support, the work encourages participation in hobbies, social activities, and community engagement, while forming meaningful bonds and celebrating every achievement, big or small. It’s a role that fuses hands-on care with genuine human connection, guiding each person’s journey toward confidence, unlocking potential, and helping them find a place where they truly belong.

Creating Safe and Nurturing Homes for Youth

Residential Youth Workers create safe, nurturing homes for young people who have experienced trauma or neglect. They provide guidance in practical life skills, support social and emotional resilience, and serve as a steady, supportive presence as young people navigate life's challenges. The role also involves 24/7 supervision, assisting with daily routines like meals, schooling, and appointments, managing challenging behaviours using trauma-informed approaches, and liaising with care teams, schools, and support agencies. Every milestone, from learning to budgeting to gaining confidence in new abilities, reflects the tangible impact that residential youth work has on helping young people move toward brighter, more independent futures.

Supporting You While You Support Others

A career at MADEC comes with more than just meaningful work. Employees enjoy a strong work-life balance with flexible seven-on, seven-off rostering, five weeks of annual leave plus birthday leave accrual, and access to mentoring and career development programs. Additional perks include salary packaging, rewards and recognition, including an end-of-year bonus, and access to a company fleet and novated leasing.
