At ILSA Mackay
For 10 years, ILSA has been part of the Mackay community, supporting people living with disability to have greater choice, independence and confidence.
A local, not-for-profit community organisation, ILSA is a registered NDIS and NIISQ provider supporting people aged 18 and over in Mackay. ILSA also provides disability and funded aged care services in Cairns.
At the heart of ILSA is a simple belief: every person deserves support that fits their life.
That means taking the time to understand what matters to each individual, how they want to live and what support will help them get there. From everyday assistance at home to getting out into the community and working towards bigger personal goals, ILSA focuses on helping people maintain independence and stay connected to the life they choose.
Governed by people with lived experience, choice and autonomy have been part of ILSA’s approach from the beginning. After a decade in Mackay, the organisation remains proudly local, approachable, and connected to the community. Clients know who they are dealing with, staff understand the communities they work in, and relationships remain at the centre of the way ILSA operates.
Disability and aged care are changing rapidly, with ongoing reforms, workforce pressures, and increasing complexity. Through that change, ILSA has stayed focused on providing reliable, responsive support, listening to clients and staff, and continually improving. That commitment is reflected in the consistently positive feedback received from both the people ILSA supports and the people who work with them.
ILSA also recognises that great support starts with great people. Staff are valued and supported through mentoring, professional development, and ongoing training, helping them build the skills and confidence to provide consistent, compassionate support. Investing in its people is an important part of ILSA’s commitment to quality — for both clients and staff.
As a registered charity, ILSA also recognises that disability and financial hardship can go hand in hand. Donations help provide additional assistance, equipment and opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.
For ILSA, independence is found in the everyday — and sometimes the right support can create the opportunity for something extraordinary.
