Passion Meets Precision

With Ohana Pools

Ohana Pools may be new to the Whitsundays scene, but its foundations are anything but inexperienced. Behind the business is creative craftsman Aaron Lemanski, whose long history in pool building, design and detail-driven work sets him apart.

Aaron first entered the pool industry in 1997, starting an apprenticeship with Nevada Pools under the supervision of Warren Hearn. Over the years, he worked with several respected pool companies and even ran a pebble crew in Mackay. Like many tradespeople with creative skills, his career branched into other industries, including tattooing and visual design. These experiences now influence his distinctive approach to construction, where he prioritises quality over quantity.

“We’re not trying to take on every job. We prefer to work closely with one or two clients at a time, really putting in the effort to make each project special.”

Despite his broad experience, it was a friend’s backyard project that pulled him back into the pool industry.

“Helping Isaac with his pool really took me back to when I was younger. It was something I swore I’d never return to, but here I am, back building pools and I absolutely love it,” Aaron explained.

Ohana Pools offers both fibreglass and custom concrete pools. Fibreglass options are economical and faster to install, while concrete allows for fully tailored designs that suit sloping blocks or one-of-a-kind visions. The team works closely with each client to guide them through the best choice for their space, style and lifestyle.

“Some people want something simple. Others want something unique that works with the land. We help them figure out what fits best.”

“We do everything from custom concrete builds to fibreglass pools, and we can even customise fibreglass designs to suit the space.”

While fibreglass pools are a popular choice, Ohana Pools takes a case-by-case approach.

“We’re always focused on finding the best option for the client. For example, if I think concrete is the better fit, I’ll suggest we form and engineer it that way, so it also supports the ground behind it.”

Beyond construction, Aaron’s artistic background shines through in his design process.

“The things I can see now compared to when I was in construction before are totally different. Tattooing has improved my eye for detail and given me a ‘do it once, do it right’ level of precision!”

The name Ohana was inspired by his young daughter’s love of Lilo and Stitch. With ohana meaning "family", it reflects the values at the core of the business.

“We’re a family building pools for other families.”

Post-installation, Ohana Pools continues to support clients. They partner with trusted local pool shops and offer guidance on water care, cyclone preparation and ongoing maintenance. One popular feature is the Vantage in-floor cleaning system, which makes pool upkeep effortless.

“It makes a huge difference. You can leave your pool for weeks and it still looks great.”

With three projects currently underway, a home build in Hideaway Bay, and a commitment to staying boutique, Aaron is focused on quality, creativity and connection. Looking ahead, he also hopes to give back.

“My old boss helped me find my path when school didn’t work out. I’d love to give someone else that same chance one day.”

With a passion for craft, a heart for community and a keen eye for detail, Ohana Pools is quickly becoming one of the Whitsundays’ most exciting and thoughtful pool specialists.
