Shirlz Russell is redefining what it means to be a woman in property. Armed with knowledge and unstoppable drive, she carves her own path with unshakable confidence and commanding authority.
Before stepping into the role of a listing agent, Shirlz built her foundation working alongside buyers, particularly women seeking to grow wealth through property. Already a licensed real estate professional, she became a strong advocate for purchasers, guiding them toward strategic decisions that would shape long term financial security. That experience gave her a sharp lens on the industry and ultimately the confidence to do things differently.
Rather than start under another agency in a traditional sales associate role, Shirlz chose to launch her business from day one under the Area Specialist model — backing herself from the outset.
“I wanted to enter the industry on my own terms and build something that felt genuinely aligned with who I am,” she says.
Her success hasn’t been built on gimmicks or flashy tactics. It’s been built on consistency, transparency and authenticity.
“The real advantage,” she explains, “is being comfortable enough to show up as yourself. Clients can feel when it’s genuine — and that trust changes everything.”
In an industry often driven by noise and competition, Shirlz consciously chooses focus over comparison, prioritising clear communication, strong relationships and service grounded in meaningful trust. Rather than watching what everyone else is doing, she keeps her attention on her clients and her values.
“I’m just doing me,” she says simply.
Her confidence in both professional and personal settings shines through in the way she carries herself. Now, as a business owner, a mother and a respected woman in the community, her advice is grounded in lived experience and self-belief.
“In everything you do, back yourself. Stop waiting for external validation and find confidence in the rhythm that works for you.”
While real estate has traditionally been viewed as male dominated, Shirlz sees opportunity where others see imbalance. For her, being a woman in the industry is not a disadvantage — it’s a strength.
“Women are often the key decision-makers when it comes to property,” she says.
“Understanding how they think, what they value and how they feel about a home gives me an edge.”
When speaking with Shirlz, there is an undeniable sense of contentment in what she has built, both professionally and personally.
“I’m so in love with my life and what I’m doing right now. I couldn’t be happier.”
Beyond real estate, Shirlz is a driving force within her community. She serves as President of Zonta Mackay and is Chair of the Board at Chances House, Mackay’s local homelessness drop-in centre. She also sits on the board of Catherine McAuley College, where her teenage daughter Olivia attends — championing opportunity, dignity and long-term security for women and families across the region.
Supporting Olivia’s pursuits stands as one of her proudest achievements yet, and she attributes much of her success as a parent to her greatest role model – her own mother.
A self-confessed foodie with a love language of cooking, Shirlz treasures time with friends and family. Travel fuels her curiosity, and home life is lively with two cavoodles and two cats who live in playful harmony.
With big plans unfolding and an exciting announcement imminent, Shirlz is expanding beyond the traditional model — creating a space where clients, collaborators and community can come together under one roof.
In a crowded marketplace, Shirlz does not aim to be everything to everyone. She knows the market, and more importantly, she knows how to connect. If you are looking for a trusted professional to guide your next move in home, business or investment property, Shirlz Russell stands ready, confident, capable and unapologetically authentic!
Advice to your younger self? “Learn to trust your own voice. The moment you stop relying on external validation is the moment you start moving with confidence.”
